Richfield police report: Police respond to two strangulation reports

Richfield Police responded to these calls Sept. 13-19:

Sept. 13 – Richfield Police responded to a report of a disturbance at 7600 Penn Avenue at 3:14 p.m. The person who filed the report alleged that a male was yelling obscenities and digging through the dumpster. The man was cited for disorderly conduct and transported to the hospital on a transportation hold due to his intoxication level.

Near the 7000 block on Xerxes Avenue, Richfield Police arrested an adult male for past-action domestic assault by strangulation around 6 p.m.

Sept. 14 – Richfield Police took a report near the 7400 block of 14th Avenue of a phone scam where an elderly woman sent $8,000 to a location in New York to allegedly bail out her grandchild.

Near the 800 block of West 66th Street, Richfield police responded to a report of shoplifting around 9:30 a.m. The suspect fled the scene before the arrival of officers, and the reporting party said $50 of merchandise was stolen.

Sept. 15 – Richfield Police responded to a call near the 7000 block of 5th Avenue around 11 p.m. for theft of a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer, which was taken from a driveway.

Near the 7000 block of Lyndale Avenue, Richfield Police responded to a report of disturbing and harassing phone calls around noon.

Sept. 16 – At 5 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on the intersection of 73 Street and Pleasant Avenue. Police arrested the driver for theft after discovering the vehicle was stolen from South Dakota.

Police responded to a driving complaint on 70th Street and Nicollet Avenue at 6:56 p.m. Police located the vehicle and arrested the driver for third-degree DWI.

Sept. 17 – Near the 2900 block of West 66th Street, police responded to a report of a male inside a business after hours at 1:10 a.m. Police took the male into custody for suspected no-force burglary on a commercial property.

Officers responded to the report of an alarm at a location near the 6000 block of Lyndale Avenue around 7 a.m. After arriving at the location, police determined someone broke in and stole several items. Police located the suspect and arrested them for forced burglary of an estimated $1,247.14 worth of items.

Richfield Police responded to a report of domestic assault near the 7000 block of Penn Avenue around 7 a.m. Police arrested an adult male for domestic assault by strangulation.

Near West 66th Street and Lyndale Avenue, police responded to a driving complaint of a vehicle going the wrong direction on the road around 9:30 p.m. Police arrested the driver for second-degree DWI.

Sept. 18 – Richfield police stopped a vehicle near the 7700 block of 12th Avenue at 2:10 a.m. for fourth-degree DWI. Police arrested the driver.

A Richfield police officer attempted to stop a motorcycle for speeding near the 6500 block of Lyndale Avenue around 7 p.m. The motorist fled the scene at a high rate of speed, and police were unable to locate them.

Richfield Police assisted Edina Police locate two shoplifting suspects near the 6800 block of York Avenue around 8 p.m. Police found and took the suspects into custody, one of which gave a false name.

Sept. 19 – Near the 1000 block of East 77th Street, officers responded to a report of possible domestic assault around 3:00 a.m. Police arrived on the scene and arrested a male for possession of a firearm with prior felony.

Richfield police responded to a report of an intoxicated male sleeping in his vehicle while parked at a gas station pump at 6 a.m. near the 800 block of West 66th Street. Police arrested the driver for fourth-degree DWI.
