For the eighth year in a row, award-winning author Marilyn Jax will lead a series of free mystery writers workshops at Twin Cities Barnes and Noble bookstores this fall.
The first event of season is 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Barnes and Noble at the Galleria Mall in Edina.
During the workshop, Jax will share her secrets for crafting the perfect mystery. Attendees will learn how to incorporate intriguing plots, haunting characters, clues, twists and turns, red herrings and more into their work, then hone their new skills through writing exercises. A question-and-answer session is included.
The workshop is appropriate for all levels of writers. Space is limited, so it is suggested those interested call the store at 952-920-2124 to reserve a spot.
A second workshop is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Barnes and Noble in in Eagan. Reservations are also recommended for that event. The number to call is 651-683-1955.
Highly-acclaimed mystery author Marilyn Jax spent nearly 20 years as a senior government enforcement investigator for the state of Minnesota. During that time she investigated multitudes of cases, including acting as a lead investigator on one of the largest real estate fraud cases in Minnesota history.
She is also a retired certified fraud examiner and is the award-winning author of “Never in Ink,” “Sapphire Trails,” “Road to Omalos” and “The Find.” Her latest book, “The Ploy,” will be out soon.
