DELINQUENT UTILITY BILLS TO BE CERTIFIED TO PROPERTY TAXES
Chapter VII of the Richfield Ordinance Code provides that unpaid water and sewer charges may be certified to the County Auditor to be included in a property owners annual property tax bill. The Ordinance Code also authorizes a $50.00 certification fee to be charged against each delinquent account. By certifying the delinquent charges to the property taxes for the delinquent properties, the City is assured of ultimately collecting the delinquent charges.
For 2017, there are presently 1049 utility accounts that remain unpaid and are to be certified at the September 26, 2017 City Council meeting. The total to be certified to the 2018 property tax roll, including the certification fee is $539,280.34. For more information contact Kristin Asher at (612) 861-9795 or email [email protected]
