Eden Prairie Schools announced that Joe Epping has been selected as interim principal for Cedar Ridge Elementary School for the 2017-2018 school year. He officially assumed his role in the district beginning July 24.

Epping has a 27-year history with the district. He retired at the end of the 2013-2014 school year after leading Central Middle School for 14 years.

Prior to being a principal, Epping served as a special education teacher, dean of students and assistant principal at Eden Prairie High School. Epping steps in for Jodi Markworth, who took a new principal position with Robbinsdale Area Schools.

β€œI love the Eden Prairie School district and community,” Epping said. β€œIn my opinion, Eden Prairie Schools is the elite school district in Minnesota. The opportunity to come back and be involved with Cedar Ridge is something I am very excited and passionate about. In my retirement, I have remained active in education and with the Eden Prairie community through volunteer work at a youth homeless shelter and on the board of PROP food shelf.”

Eden Prairie Schools will begin selecting a permanent principal for Cedar Ridge this winter.
