The 10th annual Raksha Walk/Run is Sunday, Aug. 5, in Eden Prairie Aug. 5.
The event is held to help end distracted driving. Hosted by the Shreya R. Dixit Memorial Foundation, the event also features volunteers from Eden Prairie Women of Today.
The run/walk takes place in the Purgatory Creek Recreation Area, located at 13001 Technology Drive. “Raksha” is a Sanskrit word that means “protection.”
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., just before the timed 5k run. At 9 a.m., a vigil for those lost to distracted driving-related crashes will take place, where attendees can take a pledge to never drive distracted.
At 10 a.m., the 5k walk will commence.
Attendees are encouraged to bring photos of lost loved ones for a memorial wall.
A cost is associated with participated in the run or walk, and participants will receive a special 10th anniversary T-shirt.
