Lake lacrosse features close contests

Close games were the norm last week in Lake Conference lacrosse.

The Edina girls had one of their best outings of the season in an exciting 11-10 victory over the Minnetonka Skippers May 9 at Edina’s Kuhlman Field.

Senior tri-captain Anna Klein and eighth-grade phenom Haley Reeck did the brunt of the scoring for Edina with Klein contributing four goals and an assist and Reeck netting five goals.

Helen Propson and Sophia Doll also had goals for Edina, while winning goalie Elli Strittmater made seven saves.

Minnetonka’s offense was led by Savannah Bhojwani, who had three goals and three assists.

The Minnetonka High boys team used a strong defense to beat Edina 7-4 the same night.

Quinn Marple was a standout for the Edina side with two goals and four ground-ball recoveries. Will Hill and Max Selle had the other goals for Edina. Luke Cohen did yeoman’s work in the Edina goal with 16 saves.

David Madison was another active player for Edina with three ground balls.

In their other game last week, the Edina boys avenged a previous loss by doubling up Wayzata 10-5.

Selle played a prolific offensive game with five goals and two assists.

Ramsey Bell added two goals to go with one each from Hill, Nick Steines and Ross Brazel. Wyatt Richards made 15 saves in Edina’s goal.
