Bloomington City Manager Jamie Verbrugge was named among the top 100 local government influencers in the nation, according to ELGL, an organization meant to connect, communicate and educate people about local government topics.
The top 100 is based on an individual’s influence on their community through their work. Verbrugge was the only Minnesota professional named to the list.
The organization said Verbrugge was chosen for his passion for local government and cited Verbrugge’s description of “an incident 20 years ago in which a simple ‘thank you’ spearheaded a career worth of inspiration.”
“I was coordinating an open house for new residents when one woman thanked me and said no other community where she had lived made her feel welcome,” Verbrugge said. “I chose this career path because I know we can make a difference.”
Verbrugge, who has been Bloomington’s city manager since February 2015, was recognized by ELGL for his 20 years of leadership in local government. He has served as city manager for Brooklyn Park, city administrator for Rosemount and assistant city administrator for Eagan.
