Shaeffer nets 25 points in Eagle basketball win

Senior guard Grant Shaeffer produced 25 points to spark Eden Prairie to a 69-63 Lake Conference boys basketball win over Minnetonka Feb. 15.
Shaeffer had plenty of offensive support from his teammates. Jack Cottrell scored 12 points. Anthony Anderson and Andre Wallace came through with nine points each. Aaron Workin and Alex Ihrke added eight and six points respectively.
That victory improved Eden Prairie’s record to 16-6.
The Eagles lost 67-43 to Wayzata Feb. 12 in another Lake battle. Shaeffer and Wallace netted 10 points apiece. Ihrke scored eight points and Workin came through with six points.
Eden Prairie, 16-6 overall, will travel to Edina for a 7 p.m. conference game Friday, Feb. 22, before hosting Coon Rapids at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26.
Girls fall twice
Eden Prairie dropped a pair of Lake Conference girls basketball games last week and have a 15-9 overall record.
The Eagles were defeated 45-28 by Minnetonka Feb. 15. Jayla Mayes-Jackson scored nine points for the Eagles. Samantha Trammel finished with seven points and Cassy Saxton had six points.
Wayzata beat Eden Prairie 56-41 Feb. 12. Trammel was the only Eagle player to score in double figures. She finished wih 14 points.
Other leading Eagle scorers were Mayes-Jackson (8), Taylor Johnson (5), Annie Thul (4) and Emma Boehm (4).
Eden Prairie will be home to battle Lake Conference rival Edina at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22.
