A former state legislator and military veteran who lost both legs to a roadside bomb in Iraq is the keynote speaker during next week’s fourth-annual Success Day at Normandale Community College in Bloomington.
The college will host more than 75 sessions on a variety of themes during Success Day. The workshops, lectures and presentations on topics including careers, education, finance, leadership, personal interest and wellness are 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the college, 9700 France Ave. S.
John Kriesel, who was injured in 2006 and recently completed one term as a state representative, is the author of “Still Standing,” a book that details his story of overcoming the adversity of the bomb explosion which also took the lives of two of his close friends.
Kriesel will speak at 9 a.m.
Also planned during Success Day is a health fair 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Partnership Center.
Success day programs are open to the community.
