No. 1-ranked Eden Prairie continues to dominate boys swimming foes while breaking records.
The Eagles defeated Hopkins 95-81 in a Lake Conference meet Jan. 11 at Oak Point Intermediate pool. Aaron Greenberg broke a pool record with a time of 57.54 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Eden Prairie swept all firsts before swimming exhibtion during the final three events after clinching the dual meet win.
The Eagles’ winning 200-yard medley relay team consisted of Dima Foster, Greenberg, Mike Solfelt and Spencer Sathre. Eden Prairie’s time was 1:38.74.
Bryce Boston was victorious in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:49.14. Daniel Nelson placed second in that event (1:53.63).
Greenberg claimed top honors in the 200 individual medley (1:54.42). Teammate Jonathan Lieberman finished second (1:58.23).
Jenia Foster and Griffin Back were first and second in the 50 freestyle with respective times of 22.32 and 22.38.
Jordan Greenberg, an eighth-grader, claimed the diving title with 223.50 points.
Solfelt won the 100 butterfly (54.53) placing ahead of runner-up finisher Sathre (55.18).
Spencer McMahon was first in the 100 freestyle (52.40). Dave Harris attained second-place honors (52.93).
Brandt Swanson swam to victory in the 500 freestyle (5:06.80). Ethan Griffith was second (5:10.06).
Eden Prairie clinched the win at that point and swam exhibition during the remaining events.
Eden Prairie seeks another Lake Conference triumph against Edina at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Art Downey Aquatic Center.
