Richfield students flood the food shelf

AVID students at Richfield Middle School completed an eight-day food drive last week, donating more than 8,000 items to the food shelf at Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People. Dean Kasparek’s eighth-grade science class, pictured, collected the most food for the drive, bringing in 1,715 items, or 63.5 packages per student. They won a prize pack containing items related to the movie, “The Hobbit.” AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination, an elective class meant to help students begin college planning.
