Bloomington schools collecting musical instruments
Bloomington Public Schools is seeking band and orchestra instrument donations as part of Minnesota Public Radio’s “Play it Forward” donation drive.
Throughout November community members are encouraged to donate band and orchestra instruments in any working condition to benefit the music programs in all of the district’s schools.
Donated items may include acoustic guitars, brass, concert percussion, snare drums, string instruments, woodwinds and drum kits. Each instrument will be inspected and repaired if necessary, or used as a trade if the instrument is unworkable.
Donations may be dropped off at the district’s main office in the Educational Services Center, 1350 W. 106th St., from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. If you cannot drop off the instrument, call Barb Marek at 952-881-0905 for pick up.
Donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes. Valuations must be made by the donor, but if an instrument is valued at more than $500, the donor should secure an appraisal from a qualified music store.
